Springtime Calls For Changes
Elections are a week away. This next Friday, East Linn Christian Academy will have a new ASB President. It's bitter sweet - like dark chocolate: a little bitter but mostly so good. A part of me wishes I could be president for longer and do more things for the school, but most of me is so happy to see a new ASB forming. I am excited to hand over my presidency to someone with who's ready to go and excited. I have to admit after a full year, I am quite burn out. Although there will be a new president, I still have a few duties to finish up. I've got one more chapel speaker to schedule and one last Emphasis day to run. And then I'm practically off to Seattle!

Emphasis: Jesus
Spiritual emphasis was, in my opinion, so good! It feels so right to take a whole day out of your schedule to think about and praise Jesus. Having an emphasis day really helps remind me that sometimes my focus gets off of Jesus, and it needs readjusted. I tell him he's first in my life: the center of it all, and sometimes I don't live that out, and it feels good to have a day to hand everything over to him.
Set up was crazy! The gym was rented out to a church league until 10pm!! So we had worship practice from 8-10 and didn't start setting up until after 10. We got finished up just a little before midnight. Then we had to be there early- 6:45am. I got 4 hours 40 minutes of sleep. It was crazy. It feels good to finally be catching up on the sleep and I am so very happy that I have spring break to relax. Enjoy your break!

Around the Corner
For the East Linn girl's basketball team, Pendleton is right around the corner. All we have to do is win this one game. Portland Christian at 5 o'clock. We can totally do it!
There are lots of things coming around the corner in my life, like where I am going to college. National deciding day is May 1st and it's coming so quick. I really love California. The top two schools I'm looking at are Point Loma Nazarene and Biola. They are both awesome. This year has been quite the adventure. It is so different than any of my previous years of living - I'm sure it just keeps changing after this. It is so interesting going through the last year of high school, it's kind of where you start learning who you really are and what sort of things you stand for. All sorts of things: such as feminism and gender roles and theological things. I have had so much to think about this year. Life is coming at me fast, but for now I just have to focus on winning tomorrow's game :)

Go, Fight, Win
I really enjoyed last night's basketball games. I got to start, which was pretty fun. Our team worked really hard, especially in the first half, and you could tell everyone was having so much fun. Half time was the greatest because we were all laughing...and breathing really hard! It was a really enjoyable game, and it's one that will stay in my memory.
The boys' game was incredible. Our East Linn boy's basketball team worked really hard to defeat Western Mennonite. The win was well deserved. Even though Western started off pulling away with a pretty large lead, we were able to fight back for the win. I loved watching the crowd of East Linn students cheer for the team. It was an awesome sight!

My First Thoughts
Well, this is my first presidential blog post. Actually, I believe this is my first personal blog post ever. I never really thought about starting a blog before, but I've had some thoughts about our little school East Linn, and I was thinking this might be the best way to get it out. So this is what has been on my mind.
First of all, I think all East Linn students need to know that their ASB is working really really hard for them. Yes, we don't just enjoy working until we just can't stand it anymore, for no reason. We like making other people happy. We put events like Masquerade together so students can have fun. "Who knew, you mean, the events aren't suppose to be something you feel obligated to go to." You know, these high school events are once in a life time thing. One day you'll be out of high school. I think, if you think Masquerade is going to be dumb, make it a point to enjoy it and have fun with other people. I think its going to be, well as Simon would say, pretty "rock'n'roll."
Secondly, I really feel like East Linn has a problem. And this is it:
The ones who hate being at East Linn, yes there are some people like that, are being a negative influence on other people. They aren't just keeping it to themselves, they are telling other people things like, "I hate chapel" and "this is so dumb" and "if only we could go to LHS." If you don't like East Linn, keep it to yourself please. And especially don't target the weak people. Obviously, if you tell me, I'm going to shrug it off. But if you're telling the new transfer student or the freshmen (sorry freshmen, its just that freshmen are easily influenced), then that's really not helpful. Our school needs to work together. Build each other up. Its biblical and it's definitely healthy. So, if you're reading this, just take note, watch what you say...even if you don't have a negative attitude...because it could be affecting someone else.
Hm. I am very satisfied with accomplishing my first blog post!
